I'm Talking Heart-Melting. . .

It never ceases to amaze me how toddlers are sponges--SPONGES--when it comes to the words they hear and the actions they witness. They pick up on every little thing--and drive it into the ground with repetition.

Just tonight, Carly was running through the house and yelling, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair." (the cutest part was the last two words--"your hair" had a bit of a southern drawl to it--so it sounded like hay-er)

Where did she hear that??

Your guess is as good as mine. . .

Over the past few months, she's picked up on the words "best friends." She's already told her friend Lola that she's her best friend. She was leaving their house one evening after we had been over for dinner--they were both in their jammies, saying goodbye multiple times, clasping hands at one point--and she looked at her and told her, "You're my best friend, Lola." It was a Kodak moment.

So, the other day I was feeding Hannah while Carly was playing with her toys and talking to me. This was one of our conversations:

C: "You're my best friend, Mommy."

Me: "Thank you, Carly."

After about 20 seconds, she followed up with this:

C: "Are you going to say, 'Carly, you're my best friend?' "

Me: "Oh, right--You're my best friend, Carly."

We had this same exchange later in the day, although this time I didn't have to be prompted. And, after I told her she was my best friend, this was her response:

"Ohhhh, that's so sweet of you."
