Hearts of Joy--Joy List #8

I am devoting an entire post and Joy list to this evening's excursion. We visited Santa at the children's hospital where Hannah had heart surgery. (There is a local support group for all the heart patients and this was their holiday party.)

We piled in the car and were hoping to arrive early, but when we got there, we saw that other families had the same idea! Santa wasn't there when we arrived, but as we milled about and looked at the Christmas tree and some decorations, Santa emerged from a doorway. When Carly saw him and heard him exclaim, "Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas!"--the look on her face was priceless.

Without further ado, here's today's list:

1) Carly's eyes when she saw Santa walking into the room

2) A room full of heart patients, ranging in age from newborn to middle school
Let's just say I forgot how many heart surgeries this hospital does--probably one a day, which in my book, considering the complexity of it all, is A LOT!
3) Seeing some of the amazing hospital staff again who were a part of Hannah's surgery and recovery

4) Carly telling Santa that she wanted a dolly for Christmas--and then her gratitude when they presented her with a Snow White Disney Royal Nursery toy (basically, a baby Snow White doll with two animal "friends", high chairs for them, a cottage kitchen with stove, pots, bowls. . . pure bliss for Carly) We had no idea they were going to give each child a toy!

5) Listening to Carly talk to Snow White in the car on the way home
